David Rankine is appearing in Cosmonaut from Monday 3rd – Wednesday 5th April 2017 at the Dissection Room in Summerhall, Edinburgh.
Sergei Korolev, the Chief Designer, takes humanity into space but is written out of history. Lucia and her brother eavesdrop on the Soviet launches from their tower block in Turin. The Cosmonaut is the first man in space. He will never return.
Cosmonaut weaves together three ‘true’ stories from the early space race between Russia and the USA from the 1950s and 60s exploring the mythology surrounding the ascent of the first man into space.
Scotland-based theatre maker and Francis Gallop teams up with the Artistic Director of multi award-winning Nutshell, Kate Nelson, for a brand new production that uses live performance, music and video projection to tell a fascinating story about communication, history and myth.
