Andy Edwards is a playwright and dramaturg living in Glasgow. They’ve written for page, stage, screen, and radio, including commissions for National Theatre of Scotland and BBC Radio 4.
Andy writes intimate, heartfelt, and bittersweet stories, featuring characters caught mid-stumble, who are trying, failing, and hoping to change. Often, they fuse the domestic with the absurd, seeking out strangeness in pedestrian places. Andy’s recent plays include the portrait of a man left reeling by the closure of their local Men’s Shed, a hipster reimagining of Noah’s Ark infused with sounds of Billy Joel, and a time-travelling sequel to Anton Chekhov’s SwanSong.
Andy’s previous awards and residencies include the PYROMANIA Bursary with Fire Exit / David Leddy (2018), Tron Theatre’s Mayfesto Writer-in-Residence (2018) and the Assembly Roxy Theatre Award for Scribble (2017).
