I first became aware of ‘Phil’ when he won a short story competition aged nine which secured him a Blue Peter badge although it would be some years later before he followed up this success by writing sketches for just about every comedy show going.
He’s a laidback lover of Westerns and football, apractitioner of stand-up comedy and the recipient of a Doctorate from Glasgow Caledonian University for writing – which he loves to remind his peers of at every opportunity. Dr ‘Phil’ is also very modest.
In an action-packed, award-laden career in television, radio and theatre – while moonlighting as a newspaper columnist, composing a Prog Rock masterpiece and occasionally presenting on tv/radio - ‘Phil’ has worked with most of the big names in Scottish Comedy and has never fallen out with any of them. He’s worth commissioning for the showbiz tales alone.
I personally rate ‘Phil’ as one of Scotland’s oldest bright young talents. A man with a mind so full of ideas he may have to delete some to create morespace.
